Doxycycline is a broad-spectrum antibiotic widely used in veterinary medicine to treat a variety of bacterial infections in dogs and cats. It is effective against a range of bacteria, including those causing respiratory infections, urinary tract infections, and certain tick-borne diseases.

Dosage Information:

Dogs:
- Dosage: 2.3 mg/lb (5 mg/kg) of body weight every 12 hours or 4.5 mg/lb (10 mg/kg) of body weight every 24 hours.

- Dosage: 2.3 mg/lb (5 mg/kg) of body weight every 12 hours or 4.5 mg/lb (10 mg/kg) of body weight every 24 hours.
Administration:
- Administer Doxycycline orally with food or water to reduce the risk of gastrointestinal upset.
- Follow the dosing instructions provided by your veterinarian.
- Ensure your pet completes the entire course of medication, even if symptoms resolve before the medication is finished.
Precautions:
- Not for use in pregnant or nursing animals.
- Do not use in animals with known hypersensitivity to tetracycline antibiotics.
- Use with caution in animals with liver or kidney impairment.
- Ensure adequate hydration during treatment to prevent esophageal irritation or ulcers.
Side Effects:
- Common side effects may include nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
- Rarely, esophageal irritation or ulcers can occur. Administer with plenty of water to minimize this risk.
- Contact your veterinarian if you observe any unusual symptoms or if your pet’s condition does not improve.
