Meloxicam is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) commonly used in dogs and cats to manage pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis, postoperative pain, and other inflammatory conditions. It works by reducing hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body.

Dosage Information:

For Dogs:
- Initial Dose: 0.09 mg/lb (0.2 mg/kg) body weight on the first day.
- Maintenance Dose: 0.045 mg/lb (0.1 mg/kg) body weight once daily.

For Cats:
- Initial Dose: 0.045 mg/lb (0.1 mg/kg) body weight on the first day.
- Maintenance Dose: 0.0225 mg/lb (0.05 mg/kg) body weight once daily for up to 4 days.
Administration:
- Administer orally with food to reduce the risk of gastrointestinal upset.
- Use a syringe or dropper to ensure accurate dosing.
- Always follow your veterinarian’s specific instructions for your pet’s dosage and duration of treatment.
Precautions:
- Not for use in animals with known hypersensitivity to meloxicam or other NSAIDs.
- Use with caution in pets with pre-existing kidney or liver conditions.
- Regular monitoring of kidney and liver function is recommended during long-term use.
- Do not use in pregnant or lactating animals unless directed by a veterinarian.
Side Effects:
