Optimmune® Ophthalmic Ointment is a prescription medication specifically designed for the treatment of chronic dry eye (keratoconjunctivitis sicca) and superficial keratitis in dogs. This potent ointment contains cyclosporine, an immunosuppressive agent that helps to increase tear production, reduce inflammation, and improve overall eye health. Optimmune® provides effective relief and helps manage the symptoms associated with chronic dry eye.

Indications:

  • Treatment of chronic dry eye (keratoconjunctivitis sicca) in dogs
  • Management of superficial keratitis

Dosage Information:

  • The recommended dosage for Optimmune® Ophthalmic Ointment is a small amount applied to the affected eye(s) twice daily (every 12 hours) or as directed by your veterinarian.

Administration:

  1. Wash your hands thoroughly before applying the ointment.
  2. Tilt your dog's head back slightly and gently pull down the lower eyelid to create a small pocket.
  3. Squeeze a small amount of Optimmune® Ophthalmic Ointment into the pocket created by the lower eyelid.
  4. Release the eyelid and allow your dog to blink to spread the ointment evenly across the eye surface.
  5. Repeat in the other eye if necessary.
  6. Wash your hands thoroughly after application.

Precautions:

  • For use in dogs only. Do not use in cats or other animals.
  • Avoid contact with the eye dropper to any surface to prevent contamination.
  • Do not use in animals with a known hypersensitivity to cyclosporine or any other ingredients in the ointment.
  • Consult your veterinarian before using Optimmune® in pregnant or lactating animals.
  • Discontinue use and consult your veterinarian if any adverse reactions occur or if the condition does not improve.
